WHAT IS ACCEPTANCE & COMMITMENT THERAPY?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a widely utilised action-oriented approach to psychotherapy which is centred on promoting acceptance of what is outside of our control, and committing to actions that improve and enrich our lives.

We all experience periods of stress throughout our lives, with many struggling with negative, anxious and self-critical thoughts. ACT strives to help individuals develop ways to ‘let go’ of the struggle and becoming more at ease within their minds.

ACT is an evidence-based psychological intervention which is commonly used in the treatment of:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Chronic Pain Conditions

  • Complex Health Conditions (including cancer and adjustment to chronic health changes)

  • Eating Disorders

HOW CAN ACT HELP ME?
