JANICE STOLK

Janice is a compassionate and thoughtful psychologist who places a value on building genuine, collaborative relationships in her work. She is committed to providing a nurturing, evidence based approach to individuals build self awareness, develop coping tools, and move toward meaningful growth.
Janice primarily works with children (8+), teens and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relational difficulties (peer and family), emotion regulation difficulties, and trauma. Stemming from her experience as a registered teacher across both primary and high school settings, Janice is experienced in supporting children and young people experiencing a range of difficulties, including peer conflicts, family-related stress, and school avoidance. She is passionate about helping young people navigate school and social challenges, and works closely with parents to ensure a supportive and consistent approach.
Janice also has a particular interest in working with adults (and older adults) experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, trauma recovery, relationship pressures, workplace challenges and adjustment to life transitions, prioritising a collaborative, trauma-focussed approach that is tailored to individual needs. She believes in empowering clients of all ages to build practical skills, deepen self-understanding, and create lasting change.
Janice’s practice is grounded in evidence-based; utilising a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Approaches, and Mindfulness-Based strategies. Janice has also completed training in suicide assessment and intervention, sand tray therapy, understanding the traumatised child, and child therapy; and is undergoing further trauma-focussed training to complement her practice.
Outside of the therapy room, Janice enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors and exploring new places around the Sunshine Coast.
