DR KARINA RUNE

Karina is a warm & empathic psychologist who provides personalised & evidence-based treatment to all clients she works with. As a psychologist, she has supported individuals across the lifespan & from a variety of diverse cultures, with a particular interest in working with with adults (18+) who have experienced trauma.
Karina practises from a relational-dynamic & attachment-based framework, with a passion for supporting individuals living with personality disorders, complex/chronic trauma, attachment issues, depression & anxiety. She draws from a range of therapeutic interventions to promote growth & change with her clients, with a specific focus on Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), & Mindfulness.
During her clinical training, Karina worked closely with the Healthy Brain Aging clinic identifying current dementia risk profiles in aging adults & lifestyle programs aimed at reducing this risk. She also worked at the Adem Crosby Cancer Centre at the University of the Sunshine Coast Hospital where she provided psychological support to both cancer patients & their families.
Outside of JCM Psychology, Karina is a Lecturer in Psychology at the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC). She speaks several languages and holds a Master’s degree in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Edinburgh. Karina spent several years travelling in Asia & the Middle East before settling in Australia in 2003.
